About the book:
This project began as a simple personal diary of select events essential to his love of music and life. A few years later, the works are manifested in Chris Gray's first book, Mechanics of Me.
Chris discusses a wide range of topics that includes poverty stricken life in racist Mississippi, his musically talented family, addiction to house music, destiny with Chicago, crazy music business drama, Billboard Dance Summit and Winter Music Conference adventures, travels to England, France and Australia, the madness behind his own music and of course … favorite foods!
A note from Chris:
Hello all. I'd like to thank each of you who've taken the time to download and read my first book. As I mentioned in its introduction, I realize how time consuming reading long text form is in today's easy distracted society … so kudos for reading it.
As has been my style with running Deep4Life Recordings and with releasing my own music, I've never felt comfortable pushing art into other people's faces. So there hasn't been a traditional marketing effort with this book. But even with its stealth introduction, over 1,800 of you have found this "Easter Egg". And I thank you!
Mechanics of Me is a gift to all who support deep house music and hopefully a catalyst to build our library, because no one else can write these experiences behind the music but us! Each of us has a unique story to tell and it must be shared.
So ... what are you waiting for? Get started.
In my belief that the spirit is greater than one person,
Chris
